One of downtown Ogden’s most transformative developments is moving closer to reality as WonderBlock prepares to open the first elements of the project to the public later this year. The mixed-use redevelopment — a cornerstone of the city’s Make Ogden downtown master plan — is expected to catalyze long-term economic growth, residential density, and job creation in the heart of the region.

WonderBlock broke ground in early 2024 and, since then, the project has steadily progressed. The parking structure, the most advanced portion of construction, is set to open for courthouse and public use soon, with broader accessibility slated this winter.

A Mixed-Use Destination for Living, Working, and Gathering

WonderBlock is designed as a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented district that blends residential units, office space, retail, and hospitality — all within walking distance of Ogden’s historic 25th Street. Upon full completion, the development will feature:

  • 354 residential units with modern amenities

  • Approximately 100,000+ square feet of Class A office space

  • Around 50,000 square feet of retail space including potential grocery offerings

  • A boutique hotel and curated public spaces

  • Structured parking integrated into the block’s design

City officials highlight that residential density and quality office space like WonderBlock’s have been missing from the Ogden market for decades, with this project filling a significant gap and attracting employers and residents alike.

Economic and Community Impact

WonderBlock is more than a construction project — it’s a catalyst for economic development that:

  • Expands housing options in the urban core

  • Strengthens the local tax base through new private investment

  • Enhances quality of place, making downtown more appealing for workers, residents, and visitors

  • Supports placemaking and walkability, hallmarks of sustainable urban growth

Discussions are underway with potential grocery store tenants to fill street-level spaces, addressing a long-identified need for accessible amenities downtown.

Looking Ahead

As elements of WonderBlock begin opening, the project will continue construction through late 2027 or early 2028, with phased occupancy and activation expected to bring new energy to Ogden’s center.

WonderBlock illustrates the power of intentional urban investment — attracting people, jobs, and private capital while amplifying Ogden’s unique cultural and economic assets.
