The Northern Utah Economic Alliance (NUEA), in collaboration with 47G Utah Aerospace & Defense, is pleased to announce the release of the 2024 Northern Utah Aerospace & Defense Industry Study . This pivotal study offers a comprehensive analysis of Northern Utah’s aerospace and defense sector, revealing key growth trends, economic impact, and opportunities that make the region an epicenter of innovation in the industry.

The report highlights the significant contributions of Hill Air Force Base (HAFB), which alone infused $11 billion into Utah’s economy in 2023. This economic impact stems from its role as a primary hub for aerospace and defense activities, attracting leading companies like Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing. The report also showcases advancements in educational and workforce training initiatives, which prepare a highly skilled workforce to support the needs of Utah’s growing aerospace sector.

“Northern Utah’s aerospace and defense industry is thriving thanks to our strong partnerships, skilled workforce, and economic investments,” said Chris Roybal, president of NUEA. “Our collaboration with 47G on this report underscores our commitment to fostering growth in this targeted industry, positioning Utah as a national leader in aerospace and defense.”

This in-depth report reaffirms the community’s commitment to the aerospace and defense industry and accentuates the need to accelerate its growth as a major driver of Utah’s economy, contributing over 20% of the state’s GDP and supporting nearly half a million high-paying jobs for Utahns and their families,” said Aaron Starks, 47G president and CEO.

The 2024 report serves as a valuable resource for stakeholders across public and private sectors, detailing future opportunities such as the development of the Sentinel missile system and expansion of the Falcon Hill Aerospace Research Park. Additionally, it highlights the role of Northern Utah’s educational institutions: Weber State University, Davis Technical College and Ogden-Weber Technical College, in creating a talent pipeline to meet the industry’s evolving demands.

Stakeholders are encouraged to explore the report’s insights to better understand the strategic advantages and growth potential of Northern Utah’s aerospace and defense industries.
